Set up business Macs

Start with a small, approved group

A business can offer spare capacity from suitable Macs it already owns. Ask the person responsible for those Macs before installing Lithi or changing their availability.

Start with a few devices you can check together. Agree who handles setup, who can pause sharing, and which business account receives the earnings records.

Choose how to deliver the app

Nearby: use the official Mac installer with the person's agreement. AirDrop can transfer the installer; the person still installs it and completes Setup Lithi on their Mac.

Somewhere else: send the official setup or download link. A colleague can open it on their Mac and follow the same setup steps. Opening the link does not install anything.

Managed fleet: ask IT to use the device-management service the business already approves. Use a compatible official package only when Lithi makes one available for that release. Do not assume every management product has a Lithi integration.

The current delivery option may still require someone at each Mac. Do not promise unattended operation or work before login unless the chosen release explicitly supports it.

Agree the settings before installation

Work through three decisions: choose the Macs, set the permitted working times, then review and approve that exact plan. Write down the business account, named approver, fixed target list, software version, timezone, rollout limit, and recovery contact. A dynamic management group must not silently add future Macs to this approval.

For example, IT might begin with three plugged-in office Macs outside working hours. Keep ordinary work, maintenance, and staff needs ahead of optional sharing.

A delivery plan must not disable disk encryption, weaken macOS security, or ask staff to share passwords. Existing management access is not permission to change unrelated devices or monetize every managed Mac. Employee-owned Macs require a separate voluntary owner decision; a business directory entry is not that decision.

Complete and check each Mac

1. Install the approved release through the chosen delivery method.
2. Complete Setup Lithi with the intended business account and any required device approval.
3. Check the sharing times and resource settings on that Mac.
4. Confirm its current readiness and resolve any setup notice.
5. Record which Macs are ready, still setting up, or need help.

A successful package delivery confirms delivery only. Check the app on the destination Mac before calling its setup complete. Record delivery, installation, enrollment, online status, eligibility, accepted work, earnings, and payout separately. An offline Mac stays pending; it does not need a second install merely because it is paused or outside working times.

Expand only after the first group works

Check that the first Macs can pause sharing and show the correct account before adding more. Review a new fixed target list before expanding. The provider portal's Macs and Availability pages show aggregate state and a Next action; they are not bulk-install or policy-editing controls. Keep a failed device visible in your list instead of treating the whole group as complete.

Installation does not guarantee tasks or earnings. Review actual accepted work and earnings separately, and check whether the current release supports the unattended use your business needs.
